First Time Consignors - In Store

First time consignors may drop off up to 30 pieces of freshly laundered neatly folded (ironed if necessary) clothing for our consideration. The Second Child will get back to you as quickly as possible with an itemized list of accepted items. At this point you the consignor have the option to pick up your unaccepted items or choose for us to donate the items to charity.

This is the best way to eliminate any misunderstandings about the type of merchandise we do and do not accept.

Clothing is accepted seasonally. We accept Spring and Summer merchandise February through July. Fall and Winter merchandise is accepted August through January.

We accept clothing from Newborn through Children size 16 and Maternity Wear. Clothing must be in excellent like new condition, less than 3 years old, current in style and freshly laundered.

Please scrutinize your items. Buttons, snaps and zippers should be complete and fastened. Clothing must be free of stains, excessive wear and odor.

We are selective about the brands as well as condition. Please refer to our “Brands We Love” page. This will give you an idea of the types of brands we accept. It would be impossible to list every brand so please call or email with any questions.

Please freshly laundry everything (even if it was clean when you packed it away).

Neatly fold the clothing into shopping bags or boxes keeping sets together.

Personalized clothing or clothing with the names of sports teams, schools, camps or tourist attractions.

Incomplete sets of any kind

Underwear

Pre-teen or junior sizes (even though your child was only 10 when they wore it).

Adult clothing other than real maternity brands (even though they may have worked for you when you were pregnant).

Shipping Consignments:

Please refer to the guidelines for in store consigning. Additionally, if you want unaccepted items returned to you as opposed to donating them it will be at your own expense. Returning merchandise is a one time courtesy for first time consignors. Future drop off that have unacceptable items will be automatically donated to charity. Please call or email with individual concerns.

Toys

Due to the volume of items received every day and limited space, we need to be very selective about the toys we will accept for consignment. We have done our best to outline what we are and are not interested in. Please try and remember that we can not possibly list everything and that final acceptance of an item is always at the discretion of The Second Child.

Some of the more desirable toys include: American Girl. Brio, Melissa & Doug, Plan Toys and Little Tikes. Most hard cover toddler books, wood puzzles, doll houses & walking toys are good. Legos and Playmobil are great if the are unopened.

Please DO NOT bring us stuffed animals, games, cardboard or plastic puzzles, DVD's, teething toys, promotional toys, blow up toys, bath toys or party favors.

Please DO NOT, include electronic & remote controlled toys. All toys must be clean, unbroken and without any missing pieces.

Furniture and Equipment (In-Store Only)

All furniture and equipment must meet current safety standards. Please clean all items and make sure you have all the parts and hardware. Directions are helpful but not necessary.
