Consignment Agreement

Second Child is an upscale children's resale boutique designed to sell maternity wear, children's furniture, equipment and clothing on a consignment basis:

 

  1. The Second Child determines the acceptability of each item and its selling price. You, the consignor, will receive one third of the selling price. 
  2. Clothing must be freshly laundered and neatly folded into boxes or shopping bags. Clearly print your first and last name, along with your phone number and the date, on the outside of each box or shopping bag.
  3. The consignment period is approximately 3 months. At the end of the consignment period unsold merchandise can be picked up or consignor can choose to continue to leave it for sale for up to 6 months. After 6 months, items become the sole property of The Second Child, and may be donated to charity.  It is the consignors responsibility to keep track of this timeline. 
  4. Consignment accounts are updated on a daily basis so you may use your credit towards purchases as soon as you earn it. Checks are issued upon request for minimum of $10.
  5. Uncashed Checks: Consignor payout checks must be cashed or deposited within 6 months of issuance. Any checks not cashed or deposited after 6 months will be considered void, and the consignor forfeits the right to claim the associated funds. However, as a courtesy, consignors may request store credit in the amount of the expired check, provided the request is made within 12 months of the original issue date. No credit or reissue will be offered after 12 months. 
  6. Please note that items are left at your risk. Theft, fire, and damage are rare, but can happen.
  7. Items not suitable for resale will be automatically donated to charity unless there is a note in the bag stating consignor would like a call-back. Returns will be donated to charity after a 1 week hold.
  8. Each drop-off should be no more than 30 items unless pre-approved before drop off. Any larger items such as bikes, cribs, furniture etc; will need to be pre-approved via email.
  9.  Final acceptance of all items is always at the discretion of The Second Child.
